I really want my blog to be a great resource for brides. I usually end up becoming most of my clients wedding planner, so I thought this would make it easier to start having thing on my blog. Now every week my goal is to have at least one advice entry and one vendor spotlight entry. I hope this will help make wedding planning that much easier.
* First tip, have a professional do your hair and make-up. It really does make such a difference to have professional hair/make-up and makes you look flawless, without any photoshop! If you can, get eyelash extensions (and if it within a month of your wedding, you’ll have them for that too!). Eyelashes really open up your eyes and bring the focus to your eyes.
Three amazing hair/make-up artists I would recommend are:
Hannah Goodrich (801.941.6522), Carrie Purser (435.757.4204) & Brooke Wilkins (801.540.5311).
Having the bridals to practice your hair style for your wedding is also a great idea because you might decide you want something totally different on your wedding day!
Here is an example of one of my beautiful brides who had air brushed make-up and eyelashes on her wedding day and you can see what a difference it makes. You can really see her gorgeous blue eyes pop!
* For winter/cold weather, wear capri leggings under your dress and warm socks with boots. Bring your fancy shoes for shoe shot pictures, but the majority of your pictures don’t show your shoes. That way you won’t freeze! Bring a cute coat to wear in between shots and maybe even for some of the shots to change it up a bit. Bring chapstick, lotion, tissues and powder to prevent red, dry skin.
* For summer/hot weather, bring an extra pair of comfortable shoes to walk around in so your fancy shoes don’t get dirty and your feet won’t hurt. Bring powder, deodorant, and a water bottle so you don’t dehydrate.
* For your sessions, choose locations that reflect your personality and style. If you have hobbies that include props, try to bring them into your session if they will fit. For example, if you like to ride horses, wear cowboy boots under your dress or bring a cowboy hat for some of your pictures. Better yet, bring your horse!
* Add some personality to your shoot by adding some color! Whether you use colored shoes, jewelry, a colored slip, tights, sashes or other accessories. You can also bring objects that have special meaning to you, such as family jewelry, cars, or your groom! I love groomal sessions, especially for temple weddings.
* Keep in mind that your dress will probably get a little dirty in your session, even with the best of efforts to keep in spotless. Plan on getting it cleaned (at least the bottom hem) after your session so it is perfect for your wedding day.
