I was so excited to do this shoot!\u00a0 Hannah Goodrich<\/a> is one of my best friends (and an amazing hair\/make up artist) and is quite obsessed with Alice in Wonderland. So we decided that we must do a shoot themed around it. We decided to make it more modern and have the models be the characters, but not be cartoonish.\u00a0\u00a0 We also wanted things to be non-traditional, like not using any real flowers in the shoot.<\/p>\n

Here is what we came up with:<\/p>\n

Aren’t these girls the cutest?!?! \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

First, meet Alice, or I should say Allie \ud83d\ude00\u00a0 She just graduated this last year and is such a sweetheart.\u00a0 I thought she would make a perfect Alice and she did.\u00a0 We used two different short wedding dresses from Danielle’s Bridal for her and I’m not sure which one I like more!\u00a0\u00a0 For her “bouquet” I taught Hannah how to make the flower balls and she found out how much time just making one takes!\u00a0 {About 4 hours if you were wondering}.\u00a0 It turned out so cute.\u00a0 We used pages from an old book to make each rose, then finished it with a black and white striped ribbon.<\/p>\n

Next up is our Queen of Hearts, Natalie.\u00a0 How could I not use her for this character with her hair!?!?\u00a0 When she did my Fire & Ice shoot with me we wanted to do an Alice shoot just so she could be the Queen of Hearts!\u00a0 I had an idea to make her hair look like one of those puffy princess sleeves that have the velvet strips holding it up, but instead, puffy hair with braids holding it up.\u00a0 It turned out so cool thanks to Hannah!\u00a0 For her “bouquet” I wanted to use red roses and playing cards, but not real ones, so I made two different kinds of paper flowers and wrapped it in a ribbon.\u00a0 Then we had to play with some cards in her pictures and those turned out so fun!<\/p>\n

After playing with the cards, we take a break to look at a beautiful cake created by Tasha of Cake-a-licous.\u00a0 She really outdid herself this time!\u00a0 I love the stripes, the top hat and the sparkle on everything black.\u00a0\u00a0 I told her the colors and what style we were going for and she nailed it.<\/p>\n

For the Mad Hatter it was an easy choice to have the beautiful Keilara play the part.\u00a0 She is Miss Teen Utah and is just as beautiful on the inside and she is on the outside!\u00a0 We chose a dress that had lots of different textures on it-something that the Mad Hatter would approve of.\u00a0 I love the feathers on the neckline.\u00a0 For her “bouquet” Hannah came up with the idea to use spools of thread.\u00a0 So my nice mom let me have some of hers and I used a serger spool for the bottom\/holder of the bouquet, added some ribbon, buttons, and a couple fabric flowers.<\/p>\n

Now onto our beautiful White Queen, Sydney.\u00a0 Sydney is the sister of one of my groom’s and when I met her I told her I wanted to use her for one of my shoots.\u00a0 She made a perfect White Queen.\u00a0 The entire skirt of her dress is made of feathers and the top is all jeweled and it is gorgeous!\u00a0 We decided to do her “bouquet” of all flowers and instead of white, use the contrast of black ostrich feathers.<\/p>\n

And finally our White Rabbit, Wren.\u00a0 She is a photographer herself and is actually only fifteen!\u00a0 I found a white flower clip that looked like a rabbit’s tail and we attached it to the back of her dress.\u00a0 For her “bouquet” we used a gold clock on a chain instead of flowers.\u00a0 I love that her pigtails are the “ears” of her character without being to cliche.\u00a0 I also love that Hannah did a weave type braid instead of a traditional one.<\/p>\n
